Summary

Documentation for the new TrialWorks Outlook Add-In.

System Requirements

  • TrialWorks HYBRID 10.09 or higher
  • Outlook 2000, 2002, 2003, 2007 and 2010 (32 and 64 bit) supported

Features

There are three separate features that are not to be confused:

Auto Matched Cases

This feature simply aids the user in finding the corresponding case based on the sender for incoming e-mails and recipients for outgoing e-mails. There are two parts to this feature: (1) Up to 20 Auto Matched cases are shown in the drop down list and (2) the most recent case from the Auto Matched cases is selected and shown in the drop down.

NOTE: This feature does not actually tag the e-mail. To File the E-mail the user actually has to click “File to TrialWorks.”

Auto Filing

This feature which can actually be turned ON/OFF by the user kicks in when an UNTAGGED e-mail is closed. Using the same Auto Matched Case logic, it prompts the user to file the e-mail.

Always ask before filing

This option (OFF by default), when turned ON will always prompt the user for confirmation when closing a tagged e-mail (same behavior as the “Classic” Add-in).

Logging

Main Log (Event Viewer > TWLog)

This is the main log where all errors/warning and important information will be written to. There is one log per machine. Each log entry contains the user name to easily identify who a particular entry belongs to. This is particularly useful on machines, like a Terminal Server, where multiple users run the Add-In. This log is shared by all TW .NET components so you will see entries from the TrialWorks Outlook Add-In as well as others.

Loading Log (adxloader.log )

This log is created every time Outlook starts. It ONLY contains information relating to the actual loading of the Add-In platform. adxloader.log (same location as all the other TrialWorks log files)

Installation/Registration log (adxregistrator.log)

This log is created every time TW is installed. It ONLY contains information relating to the actual installation/registration of the Add-In. C:\Program Files (x86)\Lawex Corporation\TrialWorks\TrialWorks Outlook Add-In\adxregistrator.log

Installation

The TrialWorks Outlook Add-In is part of the TrialWorks installation via the TWClientInstaller.msi. The Add-In files are always installed to <TWInstallRoot>\TrialWorks Outlook Add-In. This is done whether the checkbox, “TrialWorks Outlook Add-In”, is checked or not. The checkbox ONLY controls whether or not the Add-In gets registered with Outlook and thus whether it runs or not. This way if the user wants to turn ON the Add-In after installation all that needs to be done is to register it (see “Manually Install” below) without the need to run the TWClientInstaller again.

Manually Install

(Not required if “TrialWorks Outlook Add-In” is checked in installer)

From Start > Run

  • C:\Windows\SysWOW64\regsvr32.exe "C:\Program Files (x86)\Lawex Corporation\TrialWorks\TrialWorks Outlook Add-In\adxloader.dll"

OR

  • "C:\Program Files (x86)\Lawex Corporation\TrialWorks\TrialWorks Outlook Add-In\adxregistrator.exe" /install="TrialWorksOutlookAddIn.dll" /privileges=admin

OR, for Windows 32bit systems:

  • "C:\Program Files\Lawex Corporation\TrialWorks\TrialWorks Outlook Add-In\adxregistrator.exe" /install="TrialWorksOutlookAddIn.dll" /privileges=admin

Manually Uninstall

From Start > Run

  • C:\Windows\SysWOW64\regsvr32.exe "C:\Program Files (x86)\Lawex Corporation\TrialWorks\TrialWorks Outlook Add-In\adxloader.dll" /u

OR

  • "C:\Program Files (x86)\Lawex Corporation\TrialWorks\TrialWorks Outlook Add-In\adxregistrator.exe" /uninstall="TrialWorksOutlookAddIn.dll" /privileges=admin

OR, for Windows 32bit systems:

  • "C:\Program Files\Lawex Corporation\TrialWorks\TrialWorks Outlook Add-In\adxregistrator.exe" /uninstall="TrialWorksOutlookAddIn.dll" /privileges=admin

Settings and config files

User settings are stored in XML config files.

The Outlook Add-In settings are originally loaded from the TrialWorksOutlookAddIn.dll.config file in

C:\Program Files (x86)\Lawex Corporation\TrialWorks\TrialWorks Outlook Add-In\

After the first run the user settings are stored in the user.config file in the following location:

C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\Microsoft_Corporation\C__Program_Files_(x86)_La_Path_audlumi0kjiiephephcroktxjbzai0nh\<OutlookVersion>.

For example:

C:\Users\Jeanny\AppData\Local\Microsoft_Corporation\C__Program_Files_(x86)_La_Path_audlumi0kjiiephephcroktxjbzai0nh\14.0.4760.1000

Obviously that location changes and that’s how .NET handles having individual sets of settings for each user on the same machine.
